Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries

  • Fetal situs sweep revealing a fetus in breech position with spine to the materal right side.
  • Left sided stomach (starred structure)
  • The cardiac apex points leftward (levocardia)

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries

  • Spine to maternal right side (fetal lie is breech from previous clip)
  • The cardiac apex points leftward (levocardia)
  • Left sided stomach (starred structure)
  • The cardiac apex points leftward (levocardia)

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • Left sided AV valve appears more apically displaced consistent with a left sided tricuspid valve
  • Left sided modertor band noted consistent with a right ventricle
  • Right sided AV valve appears septophobic consistent with a right sided mitral valve
  • These findings are consistent with ventricular inversion (atrioventricular discordance)

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • Left sided AV valve appears more apically displaced and septophilic consistent with a left sided tricuspid valve
  • Right sided AV valve appears septophobic consistent with a right sided mitral valve
  • These findings are consistent with ventricular inversion (atrioventricular discordance)

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • The pulmonary artery arises from the right-sided left ventricle
  • The aorta arises from the left-sided right ventricle
  • The aorta is anterior and leftward
  • There is atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial discordance
  • Findings consistent with ventricular inversion with l-TGA

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • Color compare view demonstrating unobstructed flow from the aorta and pulmonary artery
  • No evidence of pulmonary or aortic stenosis
  • The great arteries appear parallel
  • The pulmonary artery arises from the right-sided left ventricle
  • The aorta arises from the left-sided right ventricle
  • The aorta is anterior and leftward
  • There is atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial discordance
  • Findings consistent with ventricular inversion with l-TGA

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • Color compare clip demonstrating one right and one left pulmonary vein returning normally to the left atrium
  • Patent foramen ovale with right to left shunting
  • There is a left-sided tricuspid valve and a right-sided mitral valve
  • Atrioventricular discordance
  • Findings consistent with ventricular inversion

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • The pulmonary artery arises from the right-sided left ventricle
  • The aorta arises from the left-sided right ventricle
  • The great arteries appear parallel with the aorta anterior and leftward
  • Normal appearing fetal aortic arch without hypoplasia
  • Normal appearing ductal arch

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA)

  • The pulmonary artery arises from the right-sided left ventricle
  • The aorta arises from the left-sided right ventricle
  • The great arteries appear parallel with the aorta anterior and leftward
