  • Partial AV Canal
    • Mitral valve cleft (anterior leaflet)
    • A (*) denotes the site of the mitral valve cleft
    • No evidence of an inlet VSD 
  • Partial AV Canal
    • Mitral valve cleft (anterior leaflet)
    • Mild to moderate mitral regurgitation from the site of the cleft
    • No evidence of an inlet VSD 
  • Partial AV Canal
    • Mitral valve cleft (anterior leaflet)
    • A (*) denotes the location of the cleft
    • Mild to moderate mitral regurgitation from the site of the cleft
    • No evidence of an inlet VSD 

Echocardiographic Assessment: Parasternal Short Axis

  • Mitral valve (leaflet morphology, cleft, regurgitation)
  • LV papillary muscles (number, size, spacing)
  • Interventricular septal configuration (pressure versus volume loaded right ventricle)

  • Transducer placed at left sternal border
  • Notch pointed towards patient's left shoulder
  • Probe tilted inferiorly (tail up)
