  • Mitral valve (leaflet morphology, cleft, regurgitation)
  • LV papillary muscles (number, size, spacing)
  • Interventricular septal configuration (pressure versus volume loaded right ventricle)

  • Transducer placed at left sternal border
  • Notch pointed towards patient's left shoulder
  • Probe tilted inferiorly (tail up)
