• ALCAPA
    • Left coronary artery seen arising from the pulmonary artery
  • ALCAPA
    • Color Doppler demonstrating retrograde flow from the left coronary artery into the pulmonary artery
  • ALCAPA
    • Color Doppler demonstrating retrograde flow from anomalous left coronary artery into the main pulmonary artery

From this parasternal long axis view, the pulmonary valve and main pulmonary artery can be visualized. In ALCAPA, often a linear structure (left coronary artery) can be observed in close proximity to the main pulmonary artery. Color Doppler often demonstrates flow into the main pulmonary artery from this structure.

  • 3rd or 4th intercostal space
  • Notch pointed towards patient's right shoulder
  • Angle transducer anteriorly towards patient's left shoulder (tilt tail of transducer down)
  • Anomalous left coronary artery from pulmonary artery
