    • Moderately dilated globular appearing left ventricle
    • Prominent trabeculations with deep recesses most notable along the apex and lateral wall
    • Moderately dilated left atrium
    • Low normal to mildly depressed left ventricular systolic function
  • Left Ventricular Noncompaction
    • Sweeping posteriorly towards tricuspid valve
    • Prominent left ventricular trabeculations with deep recesses are noted
  • Left Ventricular Noncompaction
    • Moderately dilated globular appearing left ventricle
    • Prominent trabeculations with deep recesses most notable along the apex and lateral wall
    • Moderately dilated left atrium
    • Low normal to mildly depressed left ventricular systolic function
  • Echocardiographic Assessment: Parasternal long axis
    • Assess for left ventricular trabeculations
    • Assess left ventricular systolic and diastolic function
    • Measure the Noncompacted/compacted ratio in end-systole
    • Assess flow within trabeculations/recesses by color Doppler 

  • Transducer placed on the left sternal border
  • 3rd or 4th intercostal space
  • Notch pointed towards the patient's right shoulder (11 o'clock)
