Echocardiographic Assessment: Parasternal short axis view
- Assess right and left ventricular size
- Assess biventricular systolic function
- Assess septal configuration (as indirect assessment of RV pressure)
- Systolic flattening consistent with estimated RV pressures >1/2 systemic
- Systolic flattening with bowing of the interventricular septum into the LV in systole consistent with suprasystemic RV pressures
- Transducer at left sternal border
- Notch pointed towards patient's left shoulder
- Probe angled inferiorly (tail up)
