• Cor Triatriatum Sinister
    • Bowing of the interventricular septum into the LV (consistent with suprasystemic RV pressures)
    • Severely dilated and mildly hypertrophied right ventricle
    • Severely depressed right ventricular systolic dysfunction
    • Frequent atrial ectopy with runs of atrial tachycardia

Echocardiographic Assessment: Parasternal short axis view

  • Assess right and left ventricular size
  • Assess biventricular systolic function
  • Assess septal configuration (as indirect assessment of RV pressure)
    • Systolic flattening consistent with estimated RV pressures >1/2 systemic
    • Systolic flattening with bowing of the interventricular septum into the LV in systole consistent with suprasystemic RV pressures

  • Transducer at left sternal border
  • Notch pointed towards patient's left shoulder
  • Probe angled inferiorly (tail up)
