The apical five chamber view is an optimal view to assess the left ventricular outflow tract/sub-aortic region for the presence of a subaortic membrane and to assess the degree of sub-aortic stenosis.

- Transducer at cardiac apex
- Notch at 3-4 o'clock (slight clockwise rotation)
- 4th or 5th intercostal space
- Probe tilted anteriorly (tail down)
- Subaortic membrane
- Hypoplastic LVOT and/or aortic valve
- Subaortic and aortic stenosis
