Introduction

The following are three learning modules are designed to provide a basic introduction in interpretive echocardiography for the following anatomy:

Normal Anatomy

Atrial Septal Defects (ASDs)

Ventricular Septal Defects (VSDs)

Each learning module provides an overview which outlines the basic echocardiographic views for each lesion including all relevant subtypes (i.e.- for VSDs, muscular, perimembranous, inlet and doubly committed each have learning modules) and are meant to demonstrate the optimal echo views.

This website also has a Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) image Library and a Fetal Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Image Library which contain a comprehensive collection of pertinent echocardiographic views of all congenital heart disease lesions (libraries can be viewed from links at upper righthand corner of the screen).

The  icon (upper righthand corner of screen) provides an interactive step by step overview of all of the functions and features of each page within the learning module.

In order to proceed to the post test, all views from each of the three learning modules have to be reviewed. Check marks should be present next to each view which indicates that they have been viewed.  Once all views for all learning modules have been viewed, the post test link will become available to conduct a post test assessment of all relevant learning material. The post test will encompass material from all three modules.

To start the learning modules, please click on the link entitled: First View --> in the upper right corner of the screen to start the first learning module on normal anatomy.
