This subcostal view is an excellent view to profile the left ventricle, caliber and flow across the LVOT and aortic valve.

- Transducer on abdomen just below xyphoid process
- Notch at 3 o'clock
- Transducer tilted slightly anteriorly (tail down)
- Ventricular septal defect
- Left ventricular dilation of hypertrophy
- Subaortic membrane
- Aortic valve abnormalities (aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, aortic valve prolapse)
- Aortic root dilation or aneurysm
