Normal appearing coronary sinus connecting to right atrium

  • Normal laminar flow at os (opening) of coronary sinus as it empties into right atrium
  • Normal laminar flow across the tricuspid valve
  • No tricuspid regurgitation

This view obtained from the apical four chamber (tilted posteriorly) is an optimal view to assess the coronary sinus as it drains into the right atrium.

  • Transducer at cardiac apex
  • Notch at 3 o'clock
  • Probe tilted posteriorly (tail up)
  • Partially unroofed coronary sinus (coronary sinus ASD)
  • Dilated coronary sinus
